FERN — PRIVACY POLICY

Fern (“the App”) is an AI calorie and nutrition tracker provided by Cellesim, LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We designed Fern to collect as little as possible.

1. Information we process
-------------------------

  
  • Account identifier. On first launch we create an anonymous account (a random ID) so your diary can sync. You may optionally link an email or Google account later.
  
  • Health & profile data you enter. Sex, age, height, weight, activity level, goals, and the meals, calories, macros, water and weight you log. This is stored in your account so the App can show your progress.
  
  • Meal photos. When you scan a meal, the photo is sent to our processing service to identify the food and estimate portions. Photos are not stored after analysis; only the resulting food names and nutrition numbers are saved to your diary.
  
  • Purchase status. If you subscribe, our payments partner tells us whether your subscription is active. We do not receive your card details.
  
  • Basic technical data. Standard app/server logs needed to operate and secure the service.

We do not sell your data, show third‑party ads, or use advertising trackers.

2. How we use it
----------------

  
  • To calculate your targets and show your diary, progress and reports.
  
  • To recognise food from photos and estimate nutrition.
  
  • To provide subscriptions and prevent abuse.

3. Service providers
--------------------

We share the minimum necessary with providers who process data on our behalf:

  
  • Supabase — secure database and authentication (your diary storage).
  
  • Google (Gemini API) — analyses meal photos to identify food. Governed by Google’s API terms; images are used only to return a result to you.
  
  • RevenueCat & Google Play Billing — manage subscriptions.

4. Data retention & deletion

Your diary is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile → Delete account, or by emailing us. Meal photos are discarded immediately after analysis.

5. Your rights
--------------

You can access, export or delete your data. If you are in the EEA, UK or California, you have rights under GDPR/CCPA including access, correction, deletion and objection. Contact us to exercise them.

6. Children
-----------

Fern is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Health disclaimer
--------------------
Fern provides general nutrition estimates for informational purposes only and is not medical advice. Calorie and macro figures are estimates and may be inaccurate. Consult a qualified professional before making health decisions.

8. Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
